Car parking for the Stargazing Pods is sign posted as you drive into the entrance of Alton Towers Resort. Once parked, you’ll need to head over to the ‘Stargazing Pods Reception’ (the former Enchanted Forest Tree Top Quest reception building) in order to check in.
Check-in is from 3pm, although you can check in earlier if your pod is ready. Check-out is at 10am, although the option of a later checkout is available at an additional charge. If you want to spend the day enjoying the Resort’s attractions either prior to check-in or after check-out, the porters will be happy to hold onto any luggage you may have.
Unlike the Resort’s other accommodation, the pods use physical keys to lock and unlock the doors meaning guests are required to make a £10 refundable deposit at check-in in order to receive their key.
A standard hotel stay includes the bed and breakfast option, as well as a 9-hole round of Extraordinary Golf, however you can also add-on theme park tickets and entrance to the water park at the online rate. If you have an annual pass you can also receive discounts on your stay.
The breakfast option included with a Stargazing Pods stay is a takeaway bacon, sausage or vegetarian bap with a hot drink or milk. This can be collected from the Stargazing Pods Reception in the morning. Guests are then invited to enjoy dinner in one of the other accommodation options at either The Crooked Spoon, The Secret Garden or Flambo’s Jambo. Alternatively a reservation could be made for the Rollercoaster Restaurant, approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the Stargazing Pods site.
Guests can enter the theme park through the Galactica Gates, which are sign-posted along the route to the main theme park entrance. Guests also enjoy free car parking for the duration of their stay.
Stargazing Pods
Described as “minimalistic themed”, these pods feature one double bed and two single beds, as well as the essentials like plug sockets and heating. Towels are not provided, however, with guests either required to bring their own or purchase a towel pack of four.
Plans
In early March 2018, the Resort submitted an application for the addition of 102 accommodation pods in the field to the north of the existing Enchanted Village. This was then revised following comments from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
Construction
Construction of the Stargazing Pods began shortly after the plans were approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council in July 2018, with the development completed for their April 2019 opening.
