Alton Towers Resort have today confirmed the full line-up of spooks and frights for Scarefest 2024, featuring two new attractions alongside returning attractions and family entertainment.

The first of the new for 2024 attractions is COMPOUND, a live-action scare maze based on the story of Nemesis Reborn that will be located in a newly constructed building situated off the pathway between Forbidden Valley and Gloomy Wood. Indeed this is actually the location of a Phalanx facility, featuring dark and claustrophobic environments amongst the hallways and chambers of their labs. Upon entering, guests will find themselves a subject of the Phalanx’s sinister sci-fi experiment where your DNA is the next weapon. Can you escape their clutches, or will you become the next target for the experiments lurking within?

Also new for Scarefest 2024 is Amigos in the Afterlife, an interactive family walkthrough which is inspired by Dia de los Muertos and is set to utilise the The Alton Towers Dungeon building. It is here where the gap between this life and the next is said to be at its thinnest, allowing guests to cross through a portal into the afterlife. Guided by friendly spirits, guests must find your way back to the world of the living, encountering mischievous characters along the way who will challenge you with tasks to earn your passage back to the living realm!

Daz Games: Panic Reloaded is a new iteration of last year’s headline addition, Daz Games: PANIC. Billed as an experience where escape room meets live action scare maze, the response to the attraction in 2023 is understood to have been overwhelmingly positive, appealing to a somewhat younger audience than the Resort’s scare mazes historically have done. While it seems the core objective will still see guests tackle a series of challenges and locate their symbols, it has been described as a “brand-new game” for 2024.

Following its refresh for 2023, Altonville Mine Tours – Tiny’s Revenge is set to return in 2024, with long-running scare maze The Attic: Terror of the Towers also back for what will be its sixth Scarefest. Free-flowing outdoor scare zone Burial Grounds will also return following its debut in 2023, having been positively received as a free-to-access addition to the line-up.

Family walkthrough Trick O Treat Town with HARIBO also makes a return for 2024, where guests are invited to explore the town and knock on doors to collect lots of sweet treats. Completing the family friendly line-up will be live entertainment in the form of the Alton Ancestors, Freaky Friends (with new faces set to join the crew this Halloween) and CBeebies Land Monster Ball.

As always, Scarefest will also be an opportunity to experience the Resort’s rides in the dark. In 2024, this will include Nemesis Reborn, with guests given a taste at the very start of the season, as part of the late openings for Alton After Dark, of how the roller coaster and wider Forbidden Valley area transforms at night.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director for Alton Towers Resort, said:

“Get ready for creepy scares, shocks and thrills as Scarefest returns and is more spooktacular than ever.

“From taking on our new and returning scare attractions, to creating unforgettable memories at our wealth of family attractions, Scarefest at Alton Towers Resort is going to be the ultimate celebration of Halloween.”

Combination tickets for the attractions can already be purchased online, with changes made to the pricing structure for 2024. Most notable is the introduction of a mark-up on later time slots for the scare attractions. Early slots are between 3pm and 4:45pm Sunday-Friday or 1pm and 2:45pm on Saturday, while Late slots are between 5pm and 7pm Sunday-Friday or 3pm and 7pm on Saturday. The Frights Combi ticket provides access to COMPOUND, Daz Games: Panic Reloaded, Altonville Mine Tours and The Attic, and is priced at £34pp or £38pp for Early or Late slots respectively. Passholder discount is only available on Early time slots, reducing the price to £27.20pp. The Spooks Duo ticket is priced at £15pp (or £12pp for passholders), providing access to Amigos in the Afterlife and Trick O Treat Town. Unlike in prior years, it does not appear that adults will be able to accompany children through Trick O Treat Town without also purchasing their own tickets, however the headline price for the two attractions appears to offer better value compared to a cost of £12pp for Trick O Treat Town in 2023. Finally, a Spooks & Frights Combi ticket provides access to all six attractions for a flat price of £50pp (or £40pp for passholders) – this permits guest access once to each attraction at any time during their opening hours.

Unlimited Frights Passes are available exclusively to passholders, limited to 100 passes. Priced at £120, these grant unlimited entry to the four ‘Frights’ attractions throughout Scarefest 2024!

A VIP package is also on sale which includes an Ultimate Maze Ticket with Fastrack entry, Platinum Fastrack, express car parking, VIP merchandise, a meal voucher, an unlimited digital photo pass, and more. This is available both with and without theme park admission, priced from £350 and £315 respectively.

Scarefest 2024 will take place over a 24 day period from 11th October until 3rd November. While the the theme park will be open until 9pm on the majority of Scarefest dates, it is set to close at the earlier time of 8pm on off-peak Mondays – Thursdays (14th-17th and 21st-24th October) – this marks a change from prior years when the theme park has closed at 9pm across all Scarefest dates. In responses on social media, Alton Towers has identified these dates as being “traditionally quieter”. With a closing time of 9pm having been previously stated for these dates, the Resort have offered the option to switch dates free of charge online to those who booked to visit prior to the shortening of the opening hours. As indicated above, slots for the scare attractions can be booked from 1pm on Saturdays and from 3pm on all other days. Slots for the family attractions are available from 1pm across all dates.
