Alton Towers Resort has today revealed a plethora of activities and experiences for the 2024 season, including rollercoaster track walks, celebrations to mark 10 years of CBeebies Land, the return of Hex – The Legend of the Towers, this year’s seasonal events line-up and more!
Following the reveal of Nemesis Reborn in January, Alton Towers have announced that it is gearing up for an extraordinary 2024. With the theme park set to reopen on Saturday 16th March, it is confirmed that this will bring the welcome return of Hex – The Legend of the Towers, after its extended closure during 2023 due to maintenance work and training required on the ride. However, no indication has been made as to whether Skyride will also be back for the start of the season. Having first opened in 2014, Alton Towers will also be celebrating 10 years of CBeebies Land in 2024, and so is preparing to unveil brand-new additions for the 2024 season in the coming weeks to mark this milestone.
Last week also brought the announcement of Alton After Dark, with the theme park set to extend its opening hours until 8pm on Saturday 16th, 23rd and 30th March. It seems probable that this may be a trial for further extended opening hours to be rolled out throughout the rest of the 2024 season.
This year’s seasonal events will include the return of Oktoberfest (7th – 9th September), Scarefest (11th October – 3rd November), Fireworks (8th – 10th November) and Christmas (selected dates from 22nd November – 31st December). This is in addition to Pirate Take Over during February Half Term, which features an expanded line-up of event specific attractions and entertainment, including Seadog Starkey’s Sailing School which will utilise Battle Galleons without its water guns. Oktoberfest will see the return of this family-fun festival, bringing with it a range of oomptastic entertainment and German-themed food and drink. The Resort have promised “brand-new spooks and scares” for Scarefest 2024, while confirming the return of CBeebies Land Monster Ball. Similarly, this year’s Fireworks spectaculars will also feature “brand-new special effects”. Details of this year’s Christmas festivities are limited, so it will remain to be seen what changes are made to the event for 2024. With neither Festival of Thrills nor Mardi Gras featuring in the 2024 line-up, the first half of the season is not currently set to feature any events, although it seems likely that there will be a variety of Summer entertainment as seen in 2023.
The Resort have also launched new VIP packages for 2024, which incorporate theme park entry, express car parking, Fastracks, exclusive merchandise and more. This is in addition to rollercoaster Track Walks, which will provide guests with the opportunity to climb the lift hills of either Oblivion or Wicker Man, alongside receiving a one-shot Fastrack for the respective ride. These are already on sale on the Resort’s website, with Oblivion priced at £80pp and Wicker Man at £65pp – available dates are currently Tuesdays and Thursdays through to June.
Finally, the Resort have revealed that there will be new opportunities for guests to meet their favourite characters during their visit. This will include surprise visits and interactive moments with Alton Bear, as well as additional street theatre across the theme park, including the Pirates of Mutiny Bay. Those staying overnight at the Resort during weekends and school holidays will also have the chance to meet a range of characters, including during breakfast as a new offering for 2024.
