Alton Towers Resort have today announced that three new attractions will join the CBeebies Land line-up in 2022, as part of an exciting re-imagining for the area.
Hey Duggee’s Big Adventure Badge will see younger guests climb, slide and bounce their way through a play and adventure land, meet Hey Duggee and collect their Big Adventure Badge. Andy’s Adventures Dinosaur Dig is a live interactive show which will immerse guests in prehistoric sights and sounds, as they see what they can dig and discover. JoJo & Gran Gran At Home will allow guests to visit and explore Gran Gran’s house, where they can let their curiosity run wild.
Alongside the three main new attractions, the Resort will also add a new CBeebies Bug interactive trail, and new live shows with both Hey Duggee (called The Map Badge), and Bing and Flop in Big Fun Show Time. A ‘new and exciting entrance portal’ is also set to be installed. Additionally, new Bing-themed rooms will open at the CBeebies Land Hotel.
Larry Roles, Marketing Director for Alton Towers Resort, said:
“We are really excited to grow the fun-packed programme of entertainment and attractions in CBeebies Land, bringing to life even more TV favourites for families to enjoy together.
“We know that, like our existing line-up, these new additions will provide a truly immersive experience for young fans and really captivate their imaginations. We’re sure both parents and children will love experiencing these fun additions and we cannot wait to see them being enjoyed by our guests.”
Natasha Spence, Head of Attractions, Live Entertainment, at BBC Studios said:
“CBeebies Land offers a brilliant and unique opportunity for young children and their families to experience some of their favourite CBeebies shows and friends as they are brought to life.
“The additions of the brand-new Hey Duggee play and adventure land and live show, plus Jojo & Gran Gran and Andy’s Adventures attractions, as well as the new Bing live show and themed hotel rooms are incredibly exciting and add to what is already a rich portfolio of children’s brands in this dedicated Land.”
The Resort are yet to confirm where in CBeebies Land the new attractions will be located, and whether they will replace existing attractions based around characters and programmes now considered to be outdated. However, with construction walls going up around Tree Fu Tom Training Camp at the end of the 2021 season, it seems likely that the play area will become home to Hey Duggee. With Charlie and Lola’s Moonsquirters & Greendrops having remained closed throughout the pandemic, it seems plausible that the building could become Gran Gran’s house for 2022. Finally, with the last series of Mr Bloom’s Nursery having been released in 2013, the space used for Mr Bloom’s Allotment could become the site of Andy’s archaeological excavations.
Together the attractions are the first new additions to CBeebies Land since Peter Rabbit Hippity Hop in 2019. For Hey Duggee, the new attraction follows the addition of the Hey Duggee Live show in 2016 where guests could earn a Big Day Out badge. Although there was previously roaming entertainment inspired by Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures, the new attraction will be the first in CBeebies Land for the programme. Based on the show which begun airing in 2020 as the first animated series to centre on a Black British family, JoJo & Gran Gran At Home will see the associated characters featured in CBeebies Land for the first time.
