Construction of SW8 at Alton Towers Resort has been continuing to steadily progress over the past three weeks. We take a look at the latest from the building site of the Resort’s wooden rollercoaster
With the first delivery of timber having been made to the construction compound at the start of this month, this has now started to be transferred onto the site itself with the wooden framework for what is believed to be part of the station building and ride supports. Inside the concrete section of the station building further wooden structures can be seen to be under construction which is speculated to be the first sections of the wooden rollercoaster’s track.
Despite some recent wet weather, work on the track foundations has continued at a steady rate with the layout of the track becoming ever clearer with each passing week. The metal brackets which will support the wooden bents are continuing to be added to the completed foundations once the concrete has fully set in each section.
With the first sections of track seemingly in place, and construction picking up pace, make sure you share your thoughts and updates over on the Attraction Source Forum. We’ll continue to bring you regular updates from the site of Alton Towers Resort’s first wooden rollercoaster.
