Whilst the theme park prepares for Scarefest 2016 work has been rapidly progressing on the construction site for the CBeebies Land Hotel which is set to open in 2017. We take a look at all the latest work on the site.
Vertical construction has now commenced with steel girders being erected to form the skeleton of the hotel. Whilst only a small number have been placed so far, the overall outline of the building can clearly be seen to be developing across the site. Scaffolding has also been installed in preparation for the erection of steel girders on the higher levels whilst it would also appear that the majority of the concrete foundations are now complete.
Over by the Alton Towers Spa, where the conservatory used to be, the ground has been excavated and will eventually form part of the new landscaped garden area.
From the terrace of the Alton Towers Hotel the overall impact of the new building is beginning to become apparent. Whilst the hotel will be a welcome addition for those with young families some will be dismayed at the loss of the view over the gardens and woodland which was previously able to be enjoyed from the terrace.
