Alton Towers Resort was victorious at last night’s ScareCON SCAR awards, picking up the award for ‘Best Overnight Scare Experience’ for The Ultimate Sleepover, beating competition from Thorpe Park and Tulley’s Farm.
The Resort had received nominations in three categories:
• Best Overnight Scare Experience – The Ultimate Sleepover
• Best Street Team and Entertainment
• Best Halloween Scream Park – Scarefest
This most recent award follows on from previous success at the awards with this year’s win meaning that Alton Towers Resort have won the ‘Best Overnight Scare Experience’ for two years in a row with their Scare Rooms winning the 2014 award.
There was also success for Warwick Castle, with The Castle Dungeon winning ‘Best Educationally Scary Attraction’ for the second year running. However, there was disappointment for Thorpe Park Resort (who hosted this year’s ScareCON event) as they left empty handed, despite receiving three nominations.
Now in its eighth year, the SCAR awards are held annually by ScareCON in association with ScareTOUR (a site dedicated to providing independent reviews of scare attractions all over the world) and SIGA Fear FX. Held at a well-known attraction each year, the 2015 ScareCON event was held at Thorpe Park Resort on 19th June, and brought together professionals from across the scare industry, including designers, owners, fans and experts.
