Alton Towers Resort Nominated for Five SCAR Awards

The resort has picked up nominations in five categories including:

• Best Halloween Event – Scarefest
• Best Halloween Scare Attraction – The Sanctuary
• Best Overnight Scare Experience – Alton Towers Scare Rooms
• Best Set and Costume Design – Terror of the Towers
• Best Street Team and Entertainments – Alton Towers Scarefest

These most recent nominations follow on from success in previous years with The Sanctuary having won Best Seasonal/ Halloween Attraction at the Halloween show at the 2013 awards.

Other Merlin Entertainments attractions also feature on the list of nominations, with Thorpe Park Resort picking up nominations for ‘Best Scare Attraction’ and ‘Best Original Concept’ for Cabin in the Woods, Best Street Team and Entertainments for You’re Next and Best Halloween Event for Fright Nights. A number of Dungeons are also nominated across the categories.

Now in its seventh year, the SCAR awards are held annually by ScareCON in association with ScareTOUR (a site dedicated to providing independent reviews of scare attractions all over the world). Held at a well-known attraction each year, the 2014 event is set to held at Tulleys Farm – home of Shocktober Fest – on June 19th and brings together attraction designers, owners, fans and industry professionals.
