The predicted heavy snowfall over Alton Towers this weekend has forced the park to close. Alton Towers had previously reported that they intended to keep the park open, however due to the snowfall overnight, this is no longer a forseeable option.
Any guests who pre-booked tickets for this date will be able to return on another date where the tickets will remain valid. Alton Towers reported on Twitter:
“Due to weather conditions, Alton Towers will not be opening today (22/03/2013). Pre-booked tickets for today will valid for another day.”
With the heavy amount of snow that has fallen over Staffordshire, making access to the resort near impossible, it is currently yet unknown what the rest of the weekend has in store. The snow is expected to continue for the rest of the day and continue on into the morning of Saturday 23rd March.
