Alton Towers launch Scarefest today, with the 2010 event shaping up to be the best one yet.
The theme park itself will once again open right through until 9:00pm, with selected rides bathed in spooktacular colour. Rides including Nemesis, Air, Oblivion and Rita take on a whole new dimension in the dark – and it’s even expected that the park will make new-for-2010 rollercoaster – “Th13teen” – LIVE for the event – with actors in and around the Dark Forest and queuelines. Don’t forget that a small number of rides, most notably The Flume and Skyride, will close at dusk for health and safety reasons.
Towers Street and other areas of the theme park have been decorated for the spooky season amid changed audio soundtracks and special characters – Franklin, Patch, Phil and Skelvin – around the park.
2010 sees the return of popular attractions including Terror of the Towers – which returns under the guise of “What Lies Within” ready to terrify all who dare to set foot in the Ruins themselves. Trick or Treat Doors will also return on Fountain Square, just outside Hex – and younger visitors can meet one of the friendly witches. Duel will be transformed into Skelvin’s Haunted Adventure with live actors taking residence especially for Scarefest!
For an extra charge, we also see the return of the Boiler House where our two friends (more, psychological serial killers), The Hamble Twins, return on a mission to scare you witless late into the night. New for 2010 is the Carnival of Screams – where you get to meet the most mysterious troupe in town! Both the Carnival and Boiler House are open until 11:00pm, but require a timed ticket which you can purchase from Sales and Information on the day of your visit, or book in advance online.
Over at the two resort hotels, they’ve been transformed into Halloween Haunts for all guests. With Trick or Treat Rooms for families and Room Th13teen for a small supplement – guests can keep on living the Scarefest experience late into the night! Both hotels have special halloween entertainment on offer for guests, too!
It’s simply going to be spooktcular fun and we hope that anyone visiting during one of the most exciting times of the year has an awesome time!
Have a great Halloween!
