The theme park has now closed after a bumper 2009 season. With the final day of operation (Saturday, 7th November), came a reduced ride line-up and admission charge as part of the Adrenalin Week – which is the theme park’s way of saying goodbye.
Saturday was also the last time that the public were able to view the new Secret Weapon Six rollercoaster being built in Ug Land. It could also prove to be the last day of Rita – Queen of Speed and the Ug Land area before both are re-themed for 2010.
The park has attracted many guests this season and although Alton Towers rarely publish official visitor figures, the general presumption is that the park has done better this season than for many years.
The theme park opens Mutiny Bay and Old Macdonald’s Farm for Hotel Guests over the Festive Period and a wider range of attractions to the public from 13-21 February 2010. The whole theme park will re-open on Saturday, 20th March 2010.
