The theme park may have closed a couple of weeks ago, but the fun continues at the resort hotels, Spa, Water Park and Golf – beginning with the Caribbean weekends.
Two classic Alton Towers children’s rides have made the short journey from Cred Street to outside the Splash Landings Hotel, to become part of the Winter playground which will be in operation during December and early January. Bouncing Bugs and Gallopers Carousel are both under construction, and will be free of charge to hotel guests during the Festive season.
The now standard hotel lighting is already up and on outside both hotels, with the lighting at Alton Towers Hotel particularly Christmassy. Decorations are also up in the form of tinsel, trees and lights inside the hotels and Cariba Creek.
Regarding 2009, it is believed that Corkscrew’s removal is now underway, with similar work being carried out to the old 3D Cinema ready for transformation into a Sea Life aquarium. Cred Street is also having work completed, where it is believed Merlin Studios are refreshing the buildings and facades into an as yet unknown theme. There has still been no sign of the new Skyride gondola’s for next year, although they still have a number of months until March, when the full theme park re-opens.
