In 1991 the Tri-Star replaced the 4 Man Bob in Talbot Street although it didn’t spend long at Alton Towers.
Fact File
- Location: Talbot Street / Festival Park
- Manufacturer: HUSS
- Opening Year: 1991
- Closing Year: 1992
Called Tri-Star because of its three arms, the ride was a cross between Enterprise and Turbo Star, with passengers sitting in cars, which swung outwards, all attached to a central arm which lifted up – similar to Enterprise.
The model which eventually operated at Alton Towers was the prototype machine built by HUSS, which was acquired new by Dutch showman De Vries in 1977. As it seems he only operated it for a single season, what happened to the ride between 1978 and 1990 remains a mystery.
Arriving at Alton Towers in 1991, after one season on Talbot Street the ride then moved to Festival Park, where it sat alongside Enterprise for just one season. It was removed from the park at the end of 1992.
