Sir Algenon first made his mark at Alton Towers way back in 1996, as the colourful character around whom the story of the Alton Towers Hotel was based. However, it wasn’t until 2008 the inventor, explorer and gentleman first made his impact on the park itself, when his adventures were brought to life in the Cred Street Theatre.

The story of the first show, The Wonders of Algenon’s Attic, did not centre around Algenon himself, but his niece Lucy and her enchanted companion Snorlix. Guided by her uncle’s friend Reginald, Lucy and Snorlix took guests into a wonderful world of magic and fun, where they imagined their way through a magical adventure, where anything was possible.
After a brief overhaul into The Haunting of Sir Algenon’s Attic for the 2008 Scarefest, Lucy and her friend returned in 2009 in a new show, The Wonderful World of Cloud Cuckoo Land, to celebrate the launch of the park’s new area.
Lucy returned along with Snorlix as they went on a hunt for Reg who had mysteriously vanished. Guests were invited to join their search and discover what happened when they stayed in the attic past midnight. Along the way the pair met a host of colourful new friends, including Clarissa and Daryl, just two of the occupants of Cloud Cuckoo Land.
Show times were usually at 1.00pm, 2.45pm and 4.30pm each day.
