What could be better than taking a nice relaxing paddle while enjoying a day out at Alton Towers? Well nothing if you ask some bright spark back in 1953.
Fact File
- Location: The Lakes
- Closing Year: 1992
One of the first things to open at Alton Towers after the war was a paddling pool area in the Ingestre Lake.
In the mid 60s this original pool was deemed to be unsatisfactory and so a new, more hygienic, pool was laid on the far side of the lake alongside what would become the Ingestre Centre.
This pool (pictured below) operated until the end of 1992, when Tussauds decided to fill it in.
