Old MacDonald gave children the chance to roam around his farmyard upon their very own colourful tractor on this delightful attraction.
Fact File
- Location: Old MacDonald’s Farmyard
- Manufacturer:Â MSI
- Opening Year:Â 1995
- Closing Year:Â 2013
Guests (either two adults and one child or three children) boarded their tractor beneath a thatched hayloft, with all of the tractors painted different colours and each having a unique name, such as Buster, Rollie and Puffy!
The ride allowed guests to feel like they were really driving their own tractor around some of the farm’s fields, complete with two steering wheels and a horn. However, guests didn’t need to worry about losing their way as Old Mac wouldn’t let them stray too far off the track which took guests towards the bottom of the farmyard and then towards Storybook Land.
Old MacDonald’s Tractor Ride was installed in 1995 as part of the new Old MacDonald’s Farmyard expansion, and was located in paddocks that had previously been home to farmyard animals.
With the opening of Storybook Land in 1996, Old MacDonald’s Tractor Ride saw some changes after just a year of operation with the Squirrel Nutty Ride now making its way above the tractors’ course.
The attraction closed at the end of the 2013 season with the area being rethemed to CBeebies Land for 2014. Although the attraction which opened in its place, Postman Pat Parcel Post, was very similar in terms of type and its route, the ride system for Old MacDonald’s Tractor Ride was completely removed and replaced during the area’s retheme.
