Old MacDonald’s Singing Barn was a walk-through attraction featuring a range of animals which guests would expect find in a real farmyard, although here they may have found them slightly more tuneful than they may have expected…
Fact File
- Location: Old MacDonald’s Farmyard
- Opening Year: 1995
- Closing Year: 2013
The barn’s resident animals included a cow, goat, horse, pig, chicken and the lazy dog. Each had a button on the fence in front of them which, when press, would result in the animal springing to life and singing the Old MacDonald nursery rhyme in its own special style. There was also a singing tractor and Old MacDonald himself even made an appearance!
The attraction opened in the area that had previously been the park’s Pottery Studio, and was initially sponsored by Safeway (who had previously sponsored the entire area when it had been Safeway Farm).
The sponsorship continued through to the late 1990s, although keen-eyed guests may have been able to spot a leftover reference which was finally removed during the attraction’s 2007 refurbishment.
The residents of Old MacDonald’s Singing Barn continued to entertain guests for many years until the end of the 2013 season when the barn closed ahead of its removal and replacement by CBeebies Land’s Little Explorers Toy Shop, which opened in 2014 following the area’s retheme.
