During the first few years after The World of David Walliams opened at Alton Towers, guests could take to the dancefloor with Flavio Flavioli who’d have them spinning round and round on Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango!

Fact File

  • Location: The World of David Walliams
  • Manufacturer: PWS
  • Ride Type: Sizzler Twist
  • Opening Year: 2021 (17th May)
  • Closing Year: 2024 (10th November)

Guests took their seats in one of 12 gondolas, which were split across three arms extending from the ride’s central axis. Once the ride gets underway, as well as rotating around the central axis, the four gondolas on each arm also rotate (or dance, to be more theme-appropriate) around its endpoint.

Although still providing a touch more thrill than some of the area’s other attractions, the ride didn’t have quite the same dizzying intensity that can be experienced on other models of this ride, usually found at fairgrounds.

When The World of David Walliams opened in Spring 2021, this attraction was a bonus addition to the area, having not been part of its original line-up.

The ride opened alongside three other pop-up rides – The Retro Squad – for the 2021 season, although adopted an area-specific theme, unlike the others.

When The Retro Squad left the theme park at the end of the 2023 season, Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango stuck around for another year. After the end of the 2024 season, on 2nd December, Alton Towers announced that the ride would be departing from the line-up and not return for 2025.
