None of the fun of the fair was there to be had in the Carnival of Screams. Between 2010 and 2013, this scare maze travelled around the Resort inviting guests inside to be thrilled by its hair-raising acts!

Despite having different locations over its four season run, one thing didn’t change about the Carnival of Screams – guests would always enter the maze through the gaping mouth of a sinister-looking clown…
Nonetheless, the varying locations gave rise to different layouts, as well as changes to the maze’s storyline and its central act. In 2010 this was Kumba the Killer Gorilla, while in 2011 this was the Living Dummy.
The travelling fun-house returned for the final time in 2013 with a selection of brand new daring performers, tricks and illusions.
It was believed that ten years ago, the carnival music stopped. The cries of laughter turned into blood curdling screams. The happiness turned into panic and horror. Thanks to one overly enthusiastic audience member, a bloody knife throwing act turned into one performer’s downfall.
Ten years on, the Carnival returned in an attempt to restore ‘THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH” status that it once held. But with the acts verging on the brink of insanity and the questionable Jack Nife still succumbing to the eventful night, this Carnival could very well have been your last.
After several years of terrifying activity down on Altonville Farm, in 2010 all was now calm out in the former Field of 1000 Screams, much to local residents’ relief. With things seemingly returning to normal, there didn’t seem to be a better way to celebrate this new found peace than with a visit to the circus that just rolled in to town…
In its debut year, Carnival of Screams was located in the woods near to the Resort’s on-site hotels, alongside The Boiler House.
For 2011, both mazes were relocated inside of the theme park, within the Black Hole tent. However, with the tent removed and construction of The Smiler underway by the time of Scarefest 2012, Carnival of Screams relocated once more, this time into the Goalstriker building and nearby back-of-house area.
It remained in this location for 2013 and was included with general admission for the first time, although a paid Fastrack option was available. Nonetheless, this would be the maze’s final year, with 2014 seeing it replaced by Scary Tales Scare Zone.
