Alton Towers Resort have submitted plans to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for a new addition to CBeebies Land.

In documents recently uploaded to the Planning Portal, it has been revealed that the Resort plan to install two junior drop towers in-between Tree Fu Tom Training Camp and Mr Bloom’s Allotment. In order to provide sufficient space for the new ride and the associated queue line, the buggy park, and 88m² of the queue area for Mr Bloom’s Allotment, will be removed and replaced with a new picket fence forming a queue line capable of holding approximately 160 people. Also included will be a themed back drop for the towers, however, exactly which CBeebies show will be featured is yet to be revealed, with the project currently known as ‘Project Hip Hop’.

This latest addition to CBeebies Land is stated to develop an under-utilised area, and will provide additional capacity in an already popular area. Whilst some may welcome the extra capacity in CBeebies Land, many will argue that the Resort should be looking at making additions elsewhere in the theme park to provide much needed flat rides, and attractions, for those who may be too old for CBeebies Land, but not yet old enough for the major thrill rides. The junior drop towers are being re-located from another theme park, although it has not been revealed where they have previously been in operation.

With this latest addition to CBeebies Land, many will be questioning the future of Alton Towers Resort’s other family area, Cloud Cuckoo Land, which already features a very similar ride – Frog Hopper. The Resort is set to open the Alton Towers Dungeon in the former Charlie and the Chocolate Factory building, so could this indicate a potential redevelopment of the Cloud Cuckoo Land area in the near future?
