Alton Towers Resort have today confirmed via their website which rides and attractions will be a part of their line-up for the 2016 theme park season.
Hex, Driving School, Wobble World and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are all stated on the Resort’s official website as being closed with their descriptions stating that the closures are part of the ongoing Towers Loving Care programme. Nemesis: Sub Terra is also confirmed as closed, however carries a slightly different statement saying that it is ‘under strict military lockdown’, suggesting the attraction’s closure may be for a separate reason to the TLC programme. At this stage it is currently unknown if these will be season long closures, or if they will re-open later on in the year. There has also been a theming change to Sonic Spinball with the Sonic the Hedgehog theme being removed and the ride returned to its original Spinball Whizzer theme.
It has also been confirmed that a number of food and beverage outlets will not re-open at the start of this season, with Mexican Cantina, Wobble World Café, Coutyard BBQ, Forest Feast, and Refresh@Ripsaw all being removed from the list of outlets online. However, two new outlets will be opening in with a new coffee shop, rumoured to be Starbucks, opening and the Rollercoaster Restaurant due to open this May.
These recent closures follow on from the announcement that both Ripsaw and The Flume have been permanently closed with Ripsaw being removed from the Resort and The Flume currently standing but not operating.
