Alton Towers Resort have made some significant reductions to the opening hours of some of their largest Food and Beverage outlets within the theme park
In a document handed out to a guest earlier this week it is revealed that, as of Monday 10th August until further notice, the opening hours of several large restaurants in the theme park would be reduced, including Fried Chicken Co. in X-Sector, Burger Kitchen in Cloud Cuckoo Land, and Woodcutters next to Dark Forest. Many of the units affected will now close one hour prior to ride close including: Fried Chicken Co. Burger Kitchen in Cloud Cuckoo Land and Forbidden Valley, and Mexican Cantina. In addition to closing one hour before ride close, Mexican Cantina will also not open until 12pm, potentially meaning the unit could be open for as little as 4 hours. Woodcutters, one of the most popular food outlets in the theme park, will now not open until 12pm, whilst the doughnuts and hotdogs units outside Towers Street Bar and Grill will now not open until 2pm. Towers Street Bar and Grill is also mentioned as ‘to open at 2pm’, however it is unclear if this is just in relation to the exterior units or the main restaurant.
These latest changes to the operating times of the food and beverage units will disappoint guests wishing to utilise the park’s All Day Dining offer as many will see the reduced opening times as a reduction in choice, therefore representing less value for money. In the document resort simply states that from an All Day Dining point of view the terms and conditions of the offer state that ‘Restaurant opening times and availability may vary throughout the year’. It is thought these latest alterations are as a result of a drop in visitor numbers to the park in recent weeks which has resulted in a reduced demand at many units within the park. With fewer guests than would normally be anticipated at this time of year, the resort is reviewing staffing levels and unit operating hours.
