Alton Towers Resort has unveiled further details of its line-up of seasonal events coming this autumn, which will include Oktoberfest, Scarefest and Fireworks.

First up will be Oktoberfest, running from 7th to 29th September. The theme park’s front lawns will once again be transformed into a carnival of Bavarian family fun, with this year seeing the addition of a covered seating area which will also be host to a range of games and activities including axe throwing. Also on offer will be special Oktoberfest entertainment and a Bavarian-inspired food and drink menu. The theme park will be open until 7pm on Friday – Sunday during the event, and until 5pm on Monday – Thursday, although Oktoberfest entertainment will continue until one hour after ride close.

This year’s event is due to place a key emphasis on diversifying its traditionally German menu – new additions include a Grill Platter with Frikadellen Pork Meatballs, Kartoffeln (Herbed Potatoes with Bacon) and Käsespätzle (German Egg Noodles with Cheese), as well as Raclette Cheese and a range of new pretzel flavours. New beverages will also be available including exclusive Fantastich Lager, locally brewed by Rural Brewing Co, Bierplanken (where visitors can enjoy three half pints of German beers) as well as a Radler Cocktail and a brand-new Coca-Cola Freestyle flavour, which has yet to be revealed, especially for Oktoberfest.

The Resort’s VIP offering has been overhauled for the event, too, with guests now able to pre-book special food and beverage packages at a reduced cost, starting from £16 for a Bratwurst and Pretzel Pair. Available for £20, are both the Bavarian Triple (Bierplanken and a bratwurst) or an Oompha Grill (Grill platter and a pint of German beer). Finally, the Lunch Platter (Grill platter, a pint of German beer and cinnamon pretzel bites) is priced at £25 and the Loaded Feast (Bierplanken, stein, bratwurst and a pretzel) at £30. As well as this, a new VIP package is available which includes Platinum Fastrack, express car parking, VIP Oktoberfest merchandise, an Oktoberfest meal, an unlimited digital photo pass, and more. This is available both with and without theme park admission, priced from £320 and £285 respectively.

Less than two weeks after Oktoberfest has drawn to a close, Alton Towers Resort will be transformed into a festival of spooks and scares for Scarefest from 11th October to 3rd November. The Resort have confirmed that there will be brand-new scare attractions for 2024 alongside returning favourites, and that the theme park will be open until 9pm throughout the event. Official confirmation of multiple new attractions for Scarefest 2024 follows the closure of The Alton Towers Dungeon at the start of July, to enable a transformation into a new experience for Scarefest, together with the approval of planning applications for two new multi-use buildings in the vicinity of Gloomy Wood and Dark Forest which look set to be used for scare attractions.

More details are set to be revealed by the Resort closer to the event, although a VIP package is now on sale which includes an Ultimate Maze Ticket with Fastrack entry, Platinum Fastrack, express car parking, VIP merchandise, a meal voucher, an unlimited digital photo pass, and more. This is available both with and without theme park admission, priced from £350 and £315 respectively.

Rounding off the autumn events calendar will be the Fireworks spectacular from 8th to 10th November. With the theme park open until 9pm, guests can expect a dazzling display with an Alton Towers twist – more details about this year’s display will be released in the lead-up to the event. All guests are advised to pre-book to guarantee entry. While Merlin Platinum Passholders are pre-book free of charge, other passholders are subject to a £25. This is with the exception of Merlin Discovery Passholders who will need to purchase a standard day ticket.

A VIP package is available to book across all three nights which includes Gold Fastrack, standard car parking, VIP merchandise, buffet dinner, Golden Circle fireworks viewing, an unlimited digital photo pass, and more. This is available both with and without theme park admission, priced from £200 and £165 respectively.

Larry Roles, Marketing Director for Alton Towers Resort, said:

“We’re so excited for what’s to come in 2024. Our teams have pulled out all the stops to deliver our most unforgettable autumn season on record.

“From exciting new food and beverage options and entertainment at Oktoberfest, to Scarefest, which, for the first time ever, will be 20 days of uninterrupted Halloween fun and frights – we can’t wait for visitors to see what we’ve got planned.

“We know our autumn events are the highlight of the Alton Towers Resort calendar for many visitors, but we’re aiming to go one step further this year with plenty of new content that’ll thrill guests.”

The Resort will close out the year with its Christmas event from 29th November to 31st December, although full details of this are yet to be confirmed.

However, before getting to autumn, the Resort is also hosting events over the summer. The CBeebies Land 10 Years Celebration is running until 1st September, featuring live entertainment in the form of CBeebies House Party Live, as well as a variety of activities and special food and drink options. Justin Fletcher is also set to appear as a special guest on 26th, 31st August and 1st September. The Resort has also confirmed that, for this year’s National Rollercoaster Day, LadBaby’s Greg the Sausage Roll will take over Katanga Canyon on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th August. As part of this, Runaway Mine Train will transform into The Wonderland Express, and there will be meet and greet opportunities with Greg and Gloria, as well as Mark and Roxanne Hoyle.
