Alton Towers Resort have today confirmed that Nemesis Reborn will open on Saturday 16th March, the first day of the 2024 season.
To mark the announcement of Nemesis Reborn’s opening date, Alton Towers have published images and drone footage of a floating seven-metre-wide, blazing red eye located in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. This is noted to be one of the UK’s most notorious alien hotspots, with The Ministry of Defence having investigated dozens of reports of unexplained activity and strange lights in the area since the 1980s.
This eye is representative of that which the Nemesis creature herself will now feature, following the completion of its track replacement project and wider transformation of the ride experience. It is said that the beast’s eye, ringed by razor-sharp teeth, will be brought vividly to life through state-of-the-art audio visual technology, demonstrating its evolution into a predator.
Further details have also been revealed about this latest chapter in the Nemesis story, with the Resort updating the legend of Nemesis on its website and the mysterious Phalanx insider sending out a “final report” that reveals the true extent of Nemesis’ mutations – these include impenetrable armour, attack spikes, acidic saliva, and enhanced vision capabilities! Imprisoned underground for much of the past three decades by The Phalanx, it is said that Nemesis is now free and out to wreak vengeance, with extensive, new, immersive elements set to propel guests into this new narrative from the moment they set foot in Forbidden Valley.
Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said:
“Throughout its first 30 years, Nemesis captured the imagination of millions of thrillseekers from around the globe.
“It’s been an astonishing privilege to bring this truly iconic ride into the 21st century.
“We’ve retained its essential DNA, while harnessing the most state-of-the-art technology and immersive storytelling techniques to ensure it will retain its status as a truly unrivalled rollercoaster experience for a whole new generation.
“And from March 16, those brave enough will be able to experience for themselves the truly awesome power of Nemesis Reborn.”
Today’s announcement follows the initial reveal of Nemesis Reborn and the new-look Nemesis creature at the start of January, followed by the commencement of testing later in the month. With plans also recently submitted for a new attraction in Forbidden Valley, on the site most recently occupied by Funk’n’Fly, it also seems that there will still be even more to come after the opening of Nemesis Reborn in March.
