Although 2021 got off to a slow start in terms of events due to continued disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as the year progressed, and things transitioned back towards normality, the Resort were able to host all of their key events. There was also the addition of a colourful new event, Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras
This new event saw the colourful sights and lively sounds of Mardi Gras arrive at the Resort, bringing a variety of entertainment and special food options.
Ultimate Summer of Fun
With many guests unable to travel abroad during the summer, the Resort wanted to provide extra thrills and delights over the school holidays.
Oktoberfest
The Resort’s family fun festival returned, expanded on from its debut year but still featuring live entertainment and European cuisine.
Scarefest
2021 saw the debut of a new interactive family walkthrough attraction, alongside returning scare mazes and family-friendly entertainment.
Fireworks
The three-night fireworks spectacular returned to close out the season with a display that took guests on a journey back through the history of Alton Towers.
UK Street Dance Challenge
12th-14th November – UK dance crews descended on the Resort in November to take part in workshops and compete.
Run Alton Towers
13th-14th November – The theme park was host to a 5k, 10k and half marathon over the course of the weekend following the end of the theme park season, with rides and attractions available for runners and spectators to enjoy.
Christmas
Opening to day visitors as well as short break guests, the Resort delivered its biggest festive event yet, with new additions of a Christmas Market and Lightopia.
