The Alton Towers Resort has announced the winner of the ‘Junior Weather Idol’ promotion which ran recently. The press release is below:
James Liquorish from Leicester has been crowned the winner of Alton Towers Resort’s Ice Age 4D Junior Weather Idol. Beating off competition from 5 other finalists from across the UK, James impressed the judges with his 2-minute weather forecast inside the Ice Age 4D cinema.
Complete with real snow, wind and rain, the contestants each presented their weather bulletin to the judges including Met Office representative Mona Lukha, Katherine Duckworth from the Alton Towers Resort and sabre-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age films, Scrat.
Katherine Duckworth from Alton Towers Resort, comments, “All of the finalists gave exceptional weather presentations, but James really stood out for the judges. He gave a confident and entertaining performance and was completely unfazed by the real weather effects from the 4D cinema.”
Mona Lukha, Met Office spokesperson, comments, “We were extremely impressed with James’ skills and the way in which he coped with the bulletin. Presenting the weather is not an easy task at the best of times, never mind when they are faced with real snow, wind and rain from the Alton Towers Resort’s Ice Age 4D cinema. James did an excellent job and I’m sure he will have a very bright future!”
James will now receive a tour of the Met Office studios, the ultimate Ice Age package from the Alton Towers Resort and the chance to present a weather bulletin for Fun Kids Radio.
