Set in its own 7-acre landscape, the Alton Towers Hotel is located close to the park and next door to the Splash Landings Hotel and adjoining Waterpark. The hotel opened in March 1996, as the first hotel located in a theme park in the UK! The hotel takes inspiration from the travels of Sir Algenon Alton, whose personal memorabilia you’ll find around the hotel, such as his quirky flying machine invention in the entrance hall and the time capsule musical lifts!

After spending the day on your feet at the theme park, you can return to your room to relax. If you still have the energy you can explore the Alton Towers Waterpark by walking across the hotel walkway, or go downstairs to watch the live entertainment!
Check in is from 3pm, although you can check in earlier if your room is ready. There’s always the option to leave your luggage with the porters if you wish to enjoy the Resort’s attractions, and your luggage will be waiting in your room for you. Checkout is at 10am, and you can always leave your luggage with the porters, to collect at the end of the day. The option of a later checkout is available at an additional charge. Don’t forget to visit The Emporium (the Alton Towers Hotel’s shop) for your hotel and theme park souvenirs.
A standard hotel stay includes the bed and breakfast option, as well as a 9-hole round of Extraordinary Golf, however you can also add-on theme park tickets and entrance to the water park at the online rate. If you have an annual pass you can also receive discounts on your stay.
Hotel guests can enter the theme park through the Galactica Gates, which are sign-posted along the route to the main theme park entrance. Hotel guests also enjoy free car parking for the duration of their stay.
Explorer Rooms
These are the standard rooms at the Alton Towers Hotel, which means that you’ll find many references to Sir Algenon and his travels, providing a quirky place to spend the night. The Explorer Rooms are considered to be the resort’s mid-range accommodation offering.
Arctic Explorer Rooms
Guests can join Sir Algenon on his latest expedition through the Arctic, when they step into the Mountain Expedition Adventure and stay in the Arctic snow crawler with views out across the snow covered peaks and deep ice canyons.
Moon Voyage Rooms
Join Sir Algenon on his travels out into space in these galactic themed rooms, which offer an added depth of detail and include an Xbox. Moon Voyage rooms are more expensive than Explorer Rooms, but provide a mid-ground between the fully Themed Rooms.
Themed Rooms
The hotel’s themed rooms contain an array of surprises and unique features for you to discover. They are more expensive than the standard Explorer Rooms, but are great for celebrating special occasions and make for a memorable stay!
Gangsta Granny Rooms
For complete immersion into The World of David Walliams, stay and enjoy a Gangsta Granny overnight experience, surrounded by the book’s much loved characters, hidden treasures, and a special hunt for a code to unlock a vault filled with sweets from Raj’s shop.
The Smiler Bedroom
You’ll become a sleeping smiling advocate when you stay in this room, which is dedicated to marmalising your body and mind. The room contains a whole host of optical illusions to ensure that the correctional procedure is as effective as possible.
Princess Room
Step inside and find yourself in a room fit for a princess! Perfect for little ones who love all things pink. In this themed bedroom, young princesses will be able to enjoy a personal sized dressing table and a carriage themed bed.
Sleepover Room
Sleeping up to six people, this is the ultimate girls only celebration room. There are separate areas for sleeping and partying, as well as a huge dressing area where you can prepare for your night at the resort.
Peter Rabbit Room
Take a trip down into Peter Rabbit’s burrow and enter the captivating world of Beatrix Potter. With no Mr McGregor in sight you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful night in this themed room without the worry of being put in a rabbit pie.
Benjamin Bunny Room
This room is decorated with paintings of the characters and landscapes from Beatrix Potter’s well-loved books. You’ll be sure to have a lovely night’s stay nestled in the magical burrow of Benjamin Bunny.
Coca Cola Suite
Get ready to party in this colourful room which comes complete with streamers, balloons and a fridge full with ice-cold Coca Cola. It also comes complete with a games console and games, ensuring that there’s something for all to enjoy.
Chocolate Room
Step inside a suite themed to a Cadbury chocolate factory and explore the mechanics and secret hideaways to discover tasty treats and exciting surprises to enjoy during your stay. Crack the code to the safe to get you hands on a chocolatey surprise!
Arabian Nights Room
Be transported to the Middle East when you stay in this luxurious room. Its facilities include a marble bathroom and whirlpool bath, and you’ll also receive a complimentary box of chocolates and bottle of champagne.
Big Pyjama Room
It’ll seem as though you’re floating amongst the clouds when you stay in this themed room, with the super queen size bed themed as a hot air balloon. It’s certain that you’ll be able to snuggle under the covers and dream yourself to sleep.
Splish Splash Room
Spend the night on your own castaway island, or at least it will feel like it with everything about this room themed as such! As well as submarine-style bunk beds, you can also enjoy your own whirlpool bath.
Dreamy Den
This room makes for the perfect romantic and relaxed night away. Also included is complimentary prosecco on arrival!
Hidden Hideaway
With luxurious furnishing and views overlooking the hotel lake, you won’t struggle to let go of everyday stresses. Also included is complimentary prosecco on arrival!
Secret Garden Restaurant
The Secret Garden Restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Alton Towers Hotel. The Restaurant is themed around an extravagant, attractive garden where you’ll even find a tree that talks, and overlooks the landscaped hotel gardens.
Dragon Bar
Situated opposite the Secret Garden Restaurant, on the ground floor of the Alton Towers Hotel, Dragon Bar provides a leisurely location to enjoy a hot or cold drink whilst watching the hotel entertainment.
Expedition Espresso Stop
Located across from reception and the main entrance, Expedition Espresso Stop is a convenient quick service coffee shop which sells all the usual espresso based drinks, along with teas, hot chocolate, sandwiches and bakery treats.
The Atrium
If you’re in need of a light mid-day snack, The Atrium is a great place to go, with the lunch menu usually offering an array of specialist sandwiches, alongside a range of other bites to eat. It is also possible to enjoy your drinks from the hotel bars in this space.
Captain’s Bar
This bar is usually hidden behind a wall in The Atrium, however during peak periods, when Dragons Bar gets a bit busy, the wall slides aside to reveal this second bar, which serves the same products as its counterpart.
Past Rooms
Alton Towers Hotel has been home to many different themed rooms since it opened in 1996, often added alongside new theme park attractions and subsequently replaced to reflect more recent additions or simply to provide a refresh.
Concept Models
Between 1994 and 1997 the park employed the services of Paul Jomain, a Model, Puppet and Prop designer, who built concept models for several of the then Tussauds attractions, including the Alton Towers Hotel.
Alton Towers Spa
During its 20 years of operation from 2003 to 2023, Alton Towers Spa provided the perfect chill out zone in which to unwind after a thrilling day in the theme park.
Woodland Walk
Prior to the construction of the CBeebies Land Hotel, hotel guests could avoid the hustle and bustle of the Monorail and venture into the theme park through the surrounding forest via the Woodland Walk.
