James Paulding, Head of Experience at Alton Towers Resort looks set to be moving to a new challenge, after his job role appeared on the Alton Towers job website as “Director of Experience and Resort Entertainments”.
Having been at Alton Towers for many years, James has been a key figure through the late days of the Tussauds Group ownership through the Merlin takeover and beyond – with the launch of Th13teen in 2010.
Often seen buzzing around the park, James developed positive relationships with several of the parks unofficial sites, including Towers Times, and was/is a key member of the Customer Council initiatives of 2007 and 2010 which saw theme park enthusiasts/guests take part in debate and discussion at the park after an application process.
Whether working on rides as a host/operator or sitting in the boardroom, James will surely be sorely missed from the park as his enthusiasm and positivity move elsewhere. It is unknown, at this stage, whether he is remaining within the Merlin group.
With Morwenna Angove also leaving, it looks set to be a very different senior leadership team at the park from 2011 as the park moves forward with it’s long term plan.
We wish James the very best of luck in the future!
